 Montross Middle School Student Adviser Awarded Top State Honor
On February 14, 2008, student council adviser Hazel Hickman, was named Virginia's Middle Level Adviser of the Year by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC). Founded 77 years ago, the NASC is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
"We are proud to recognize Hazel Hickman for her exemplary character, leadership, and commitment to young people and their development as student leaders," said Rocco M. Marano, director, National Association of Student Councils.

101 passed the Fall SOLs' Test 57 earned Pass Advanced 13 earned Perfect scores
57 8th graders earned Honor Roll 18 earned Principal's List 4 earned Principal's Award
45 7th graders earned Honor Roll 16 earned Principal's List 3 earned Principal's Award

We have started our Remediation Activities for our students. Planning across the curriculum has taken by our teachers in order to provide our students the best opportunity to enhances their Math, English,Science and History skills
for our Benchmark and SOL Tests.

Montross Middle School science teacher and Westmoreland alumni, Rebecca Beale was recognized as the first teacher in Westmoreland County to hold the National Board Certification. The National Board Certification is the highest achievement for a teacher and is proof of her dedication and commitment to the students of Westmoreland County.
 Mrs. Grimes' class is using our new computer lab in the media center. This new lab can be used to do research, take Accelerated Reader quizzes, and much more.
